1. Who We Are

This site — House of 100 Books (read.100books.app) — is a personal reading blog published by Hovinci, an independent writer in Japan. Questions about this policy can be sent to contact@100books.app.

2. Information We Collect

This site has no accounts, no sign-in, and no comment form. We never ask you for a name, an email address, or any other personal detail. What is recorded is limited to:

• Server access logs kept by our host, Vercel: IP address, browser type, referring page, and the date and time of each request. These are used only for security and troubleshooting.
• Anonymous usage statistics collected by Umami, analytics software we run on our own server. It records the page viewed, the referring site, an approximate country, screen size, and browser. It sets no cookies, does not follow you across other websites, and collects nothing that identifies you personally.

3. Cookies and On-Device Storage

We set one cookie of our own: NEXT_LOCALE, which remembers whether you are reading in Japanese or English. It holds nothing but that preference.

This site can also be installed as a web app, in which case your browser keeps a copy of pages and images so they can be read offline. That copy stays on your device and can be removed at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Separately, Amazon may set third-party cookies when you follow one of the affiliate links described below.

4. Amazon Associates Disclosure

This site participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. • Cloudflare, Inc. — storage and delivery of article images (R2)

• Umami — analytics, self-hosted by us

6. Sharing and Advertising

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information. We run no third-party ad networks and no behavioural ad targeting. We disclose information only where required by law.

7. Your Choices and Rights

Because we hold no account data, there is normally nothing personal for us to show you or delete. You may still ask what has been recorded about you, request its deletion, or object to its use — write to contact@100books.app and we will respond within a reasonable period.

You can block cookies in your browser settings; the only effect on this site is that your language preference stops being remembered.

For readers in California: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA.

8. Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Articles here link to Amazon, to bookshops, and to other sites. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices; please read their own policies before giving them information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this policy as the site changes. The current version always appears on this page, with the date it took effect at the top.
